Series outcome
The Minnesota Twins trailed the Atlanta Braves three games to two in the 1991 World Series, widely regarded as one of the closest and best-played Series ever, and faced elimination in Game 6 at the Metrodome on 26 October. Kirby Puckett, the Twins' star centre fielder, put together one of the great single-game performances in World Series history almost single-handedly.
Earlier in the game Puckett leapt against the Plexiglas in centre field to rob Ron Gant of a likely extra-base hit, then later drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and a triple. With the score tied in the bottom of the 11th inning, Puckett led off against Atlanta reliever Charlie Leibrandt and drove the ball over the wall in left-centre for a walk-off home run.
Broadcaster Jack Buck's call, 'and we'll see you tomorrow night,' became as famous as the swing itself, since the win forced a Game 7, which the Twins won 1-0 behind Jack Morris's ten-inning shutout. Puckett's Game 6 is still routinely cited among the greatest single performances in postseason baseball history.
